Institute of Family Business Next Generation Inquiry

How can family business shareholders tackle their questions about the business and their own future?

In 2015 we launched an inquiry on best practices for the next generations of family businesses, in partnership with the IFB.

Following the success of the first inquiry a new programme for Yorkshire and the north launched in January – the IFB Next Generation Inquiry 2017.

The seven-month inquiry gives family business shareholders the chance to address questions related to the family business or their own future. Those taking part tackle their issues hands-on through mentoring and peer support in an action learning cycle.

It is co-facilitated by Oasis Co-director Nick Ellerby and IFB Regional Chair/Former Chairman and Chief Executive of Bettys & Taylors Group, Jonathan Wild. The inquiry will help members of the next generation have important and challenging conversations to help disrupt old ways of thinking and tackle fundamental issues.

They are working with questions such as:

How do I deal with the senior generation? Is life in the family business right for me? Are the next generation really ready to take over? How do I prepare the next generation for the road ahead?

Jonathan Wild said: “The richness of the previous IFB Inquiries was in the fantastic diversity of the people involved. No matter their age or experience, everyone benefited equally from supporting and challenging each other.”
