Catherine’s passion is building communities that are resilient to environmental impacts, particularly climate change, and social injustice.
Based in Middlesbrough, she specialises in the implementation, management and support of community food growing initiatives, and local and sustainable food procurement.
With 15 years’ experience, her preference is for grassroots engagement, providing people with the skills and knowledge to grow their own food and find strength and independence within their neighbourhoods.
She is currently engaged in projects such as Incredible Edible Middlesbrough, Growing Middlesbrough, ‘Alley Pals’, Middlesbrough Urban Eco Village and the Community Patchwork Orchard, and works with local charities, schools, housing associations, MIMA and Teesside University, as well as community and voluntary, and private sector, partners.
Catherine has been working with Oasis Foundation on the Gresham Urban Eco Village project in Middlesbrough since June 2018.
