What is wellbeing? And how do we increase our wellbeing at work?
What do you do when the cracks start to appear in your concept of reality? When you think you know how the world works, what reality is and then you stop for a while, stop rushing from place to place, stop continually doing stuff and find there is more to it than you thought.
Some of the known constants in our lives are the air we breathe, our beating hearts and that change is never ending. Alongside these are those golden nuggets, the things that matter to us in our lives, what we believe and hold dear, our VALUES.
The theme of this year's gathering of the partners of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative is 'Common Good, Common Ground'.
To conclude our recent five-day programme in the Republic of Georgia we did an exercise where a group sits down without using chairs. You may have been part of this yourself. Forming a tight circle, each person sits on the knees of the person behind. Through collective effort, the seemingly impossible is achieved. It’s a lot of fun – often causing surprise and hilarity in equal measures.
Whilst it is true that change is a constant, how often do we give attention to what capacity we have available, or our ability or capability to deal with the consequences of change? What's our relationship to change? What levels of skill might be required for us to navigate the consequences of meeting the demands of that change?
Every day we face change: be it a simple change in the weather, our plans for the day or what choices we make about the food we eat. It’s fair to say that we all have a different way of dealing with change. Mostly we deal well with the comings and goings in life and are fine with the small changes we see and make every day.
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of Michael Scott. Here Nick Ellerby shares his thoughts on Michael’s life and role in the development of Oasis.
