Social Innovation
"Social Innovation refers to new strategies, concepts, ideas and organizations that meet social needs of all kinds - from working conditions and education to community development and health - and that extend and strengthen civil society."

Oasis can be described as a Centre for Social Innovation. We focus energy and resources on developing new social forms, or to put it another way, new paradigms for practice, within the public realm. This lives through our work in communities, public and third sector organisations as well as with individual change agents. Business organisations are not exempt so long as they are committed to a renewed purpose of business that reflects social and environmental sustainability, as well as economic wellbeing.
Our approach to social innovation builds on twenty years of social engagement through the Oasis School for Human Relations and links to our partnerships with the international community of change agents within the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative and to our relationships with innovative organisations, such as acevo, Neighbourhood Management Boards, The ForeSight Group and the RSA, as well as change agents including Clare Short MP, Geoff Bellman and Mario van Boeschoten.
As a 'catalytic' action of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative, The Oasis School is working to inspire, educate and develop change leaders, social innovators and initiators from all sectors to shape and apply new models and approaches to social and organisational change through responsible and collaborative approaches to leadership and followership. So, for example, we are:
- Developing links to more diverse client groups of organisations and at key decision maker levels.
- Helping to shape new ways of working within established organisations that are looking for collaborative approaches and renewal of strategic thinking and practice.
- Partnership initiatives with acevo, the association for CEOs within the third sector, to strengthen civic society with a stronger collaborative leadership and mentoring emphasis.
- Working more internationally to develop 'organisations of tomorrow'.
We welcome invitations to help develop or facilitate the development of alternative ways of working in those areas where human, social or organisational systems are in transition, have failed or are failing.
Oasis aims to contribute to UK and international networks for the social renewal of the public realm through sustainable participation, engagement and new social forms.
