Who for?

Sometimes we are asked to mentor others. The request may be part of an induction process. Someone may seek us out because of our life/work experience.

A younger person may be looking for guidance in finding their direction in life – and for some, mentoring and coaching is the way we earn our living.

This programme is for anyone who has a particular interest in mentoring and leading oneself and/or others.

It will be of particular interest to those who enjoy being personally stretched and who learn best through doing and praxis.

Benefits

This is not a traditional programme.

It challenges participants at many levels to develop in new ways.

Previous participants have highlighted the following:

  • review of skills portfolio

  • experience where quality mentoring can take you
  • ongoing feedback
  • strong application to work setting.

Programme elements

The Oasis approach

We have a participative approach to learning that encourages self-directed learning within the framework of the programme.

The programme is applied, experiential and based in dialogue, focusing on real work life issues.

Participants are encouraged to practise and develop their new approaches and skills in a peer-based learning context.

“Mentoring and coaching may be a way of increasing potential in my team and therefore increasing capacity in my teams’ services.”

Davida Lumsden, Volunteer Team Manager

“A useful opportunity to sharpen your skills and apply them to the workplace.”

Margaret Poland, Child Protection Co-ordinator
