Jan Castle

Since 2001 I have run a busy coaching consultancy, working with individual, small business and corporate clients from a variety of sectors.

My rich and diverse work background encompasses the public, private and third sectors, working cross-culturally and on five continents. It includes 20 years in the media industry, with the BBC Natural History Unit, Radio 4 and independent media companies, rising to producer-director.

I have also owned my own businesses since 1995 so have first-hand experience of all aspects of running a business and in particular the challenges facing the entrepreneur.

My personal leadership experience has been gained in hazardous and often crisis situations, such as leading wildlife expeditions to the Amazon Basin or film crews to the Uganda-Congo border.

As a coach my private work focuses on helping individuals gain clarity and control in their careers and lives so as to find true fulfilment and purpose.

In the workplace I have helped with such diverse issues as crisis management during reorganisation, creating powerful interpersonal relationships, and introducing a results-focused coaching culture.

I am particularly interested in helping people align their personal and their organisational goals, and enabling managers to become authentic and effective leaders, bringing all of who they are to their roles.

I am also an experienced group facilitator and have designed and delivered numerous courses, both independently and for corporate clients, around organisational and individual purpose and direction.

Executive development

My approach to executive development balances structure and rigour with flexibility and open-minded exploration.

I am adept at creating a respectful environment of trust and making sure my clients are at the centre of the process. I help them gain useful insights and access their own resources and best solutions.

My background in the creative sector also means I offer a fresh and original approach, enabling blue skies thinking and inventive problem solving when needed.

At the heart of the work is an invitation to develop the authenticity and self awareness that leads to effective decision-making, transformational leadership and true success. And it’s usually a surprisingly enjoyable process.
