Professor Cunningham joined Dalhousie University in January 2009 as the Director of the School of Business Administration.
In December 2009, she took on the role as the Acting Dean, Faculty of Management. She was named the Dean on April 1st, 2010. Her goal is to help the Faculty more fully realise its mission of educating future leaders who manage with integrity, focus on sustainability, and have exceptional functional and managerial skills rooted in practice.
Before joining Dalhousie, she was a professor at Queen’s School of Business. While there she founded the Accelerated MBA programme, was the Director of the Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility and the E-Commerce programme.
Dr Cunningham has also worked in both academia and industry in Canada, the UK, Germany, China, and the US.
She is a member and founding partner of the Global Responsible Leadership Initiative, and she serves on the Boards of Bioniche Life Sciences and Concerned Children’s Advertisers.
Her teaching and research focus on ethics, corporate social responsibility and partnerships within the fields of business and marketing. Her research is published in a number of journals including the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the California Management Review, the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, and the Journal of International Marketing. She has also written over 40 cases, and she is the co-author of three top-selling Canadian marketing textbooks.
Professor Cunningham is also an acclaimed teacher. Her awards include the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Leaders in Management Education award, the Academy of Marketing Science’s Outstanding Teacher, and the Frank Knox Award for Teaching Excellence.
